Incident number #500 details:
Robber dies in hold-up
A would-be robber died when he and two accomplices held up a shop in Philippi, on the Cape Flats, on Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.
Three men, two of them armed, entered a shop and demanded money, Inspector November Filander said.
A shot was fired and an employee of the shop was injured and taken to hospital.
The two armed men fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The third robber was overpowered by the employees and died during a scuffle.
"A murder case-docket was opened to investigate the circumstance surrounding the death," said Filander. No arrests had been made, he said. - Sapa
